The Workflow Builder in Stigg is a tool that lets you automate custom processes and product logic without writing manual code. With Workflow Builder, you can design workflows by connecting nodes to respond to events, make decisions, and perform actions across Stigg and other services.

A workflow is a collection of interconnected steps (nodes) that run sequentially or conditionally to automate a process.

The Workflow Builder also supports creating AI-assisted and AI-agent-based workflows. This means you can incorporate Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI Agents into your automations. For example, you might use an AI node to decide on an entitlement grant or to interact with external data intelligently.

Benefits and advantages

Using the Workflow Builder in Stigg provides several key benefits:

  1. Automate monetization flows- Easily implement custom monetization flows (trial extensions, usage policy enforcement, upgrades, etc.) without building new backend services. This reduces development effort and speeds up delivery.
  2. Extend using integrations - Leverage integrations with 400+ services to easily extend your monetization flows for both internal and customer-facing experiences.
  3. Low-code, developer-friendly: The visual editor makes it simple to build, test and troubleshoot workflows. You can use code nodes for custom logic and data transformation, and manage versioning.
  4. Centralized management of monetization logic - By using workflows, you ensure that all monetization rules (such as promotions, approvals, or subscription changes) are processed through Stigg’s infrastructure. This keeps entitlements, usage records, customer profiles, and subscription data consistently managed and auditable β€” all in one place: the Stigg platform.

Example use-cases

The Workflow Builder is extremely powerful for implementing custom monetization flows. Here are some example use-cases you can build as workflows:

  • Grant promotional entitlements based on customer actions - e.g. when a user performs a specific action in your app (such as completing a tutorial or referring a friend), automatically grant them a promotional entitlement to features.
  • Automatically upgrade subscriptions when usage is exceeded - define soft limits to plan entitlements and automatically upgrade customers to a higher plan (tier) or add-on when they exceed the defined limit in X consecutive months.
  • Automatic trial extension - for example: when a trialing customer exceeds a certain usage limit, which can be a strong sign for potential activation, you can automatically extend their trial period so they can continue exploring the product.
  • Approval flows - for example: similarly to the above example of trial extension, instead of automatic extension, you can require an explicit approval from Customer Success or Sales team members to extend the trial.
  • Internal alerts: - for example: notify Sales and Customer Success teams when customers exceed their usage, or when trials or promotional entitlements are about to expire, allowing them to proactively engage customers.
  • Customer-facing notifications: - notify customers proactively before they reach, when they reach, and after they exceed their usage limits. For instance, you can send automated emails offering upgrade options, helping ensure a smooth experience and reducing churn risk.

Stigg offers templates for these exact use-cases. We’ve built them to allow you to get quickly up-and-running with the Workflow Builder.
